Add predicate to the juicy apple!

predicate is the part of a sentence or phrase that contains the verb. Whether it is compound (has two verbs with a conjunction) or simple (meaning having just one verb) does not matter.

For this reason, you could actually complete this sentence is any way. As long as you add in a verb to the rest of the sentence, you will be adding a predicate. Here are some examples:

  • The juicy apple was a perfect snack after Judy’s long day.
  • The juicy apple was picked from the tree just minutes before being eaten.
  • The juicy apple dribbled juice down Tony’s chin.

Because each of the phrases that I added to the end of the juicy apple phrase contain a verb or verb phrase (was, was picked, dribbled), they are all predicates.
