What does mean this sentences: she has had a baby vs she had had a baby

a:b, difference between, vs, versus

If you use “has had” you are implying the event has recently happened in the past.
If you use “had had” you are referring back to an earlier event.

You would usually write it “he’d had” rather than “he had had”
So in your example,

  • A: What has she been up to recently?
  • B: Well, she’s left her job because she has had a baby.
  • A: Oh wow, that’s great!

And…

  • Jane was feeling great, she‘d had a baby three months ago and now she was walking on sunshine!
