Twin Room vs Double Room

These terms are often confused by people as both types of rooms are suitable for two guests but they are different. A ‘twin room’ and a ‘double room’ are terms used by hotels, hostels, house rentals or bed and breakfasts to refer to the type of room available in the place.

A ‘twin room’ consists of two single beds whereas a ‘double room’ consists of one double bed, the double bed isn’t separated by anything. Usually, couples such as a husband and wife prefer to stay in a double room and share the double bed or ‘marital bed’. On the other hand, if a pair of siblings, friends or colleagues are staying in the same hotel room, they would normally prefer to book a twin room as they would each get their own single bed.
