Are the following sentences correct? (a) I have taken my breakfast. (b) Have you taken your bath?

The problem of the sentences is that POSSESSIVE ADJS such as YOUR and MY have been put before BREAKFAST and BATH

Would it be wrong, if I said I HAVE TAKEN MY BREAKFAST OR MY BATH, instead if I said only BREAKFAST AND BATH.

Both sentences are correct. The Possessive Adjectives, my and your, are used to indicate possession. To show that the breakfast belongs to me and that the bath belongs to you.

Here are some other examples using Possessive Adjectives:

  • This is my house, it is my property.
  • Where is your handbag? My handbag is on the table.
  • That is her breakfast, your breakfast is over there.
  • They dropped their luggage at the check in desk.

It is also correct to say I have taken/had breakfast. The possessive adjective in the sentence above is just extra information.

However it would be incorrect to say I have taken bath. You have to use the article ‘a’ in the second sentence, I have taken a bath.
