Can we use "as short as" instead of "as tall as" when two people have the same height?

Thanks.

Hi Jnra,

When talking about someone’s height, we normally use the adjective ‘tall’, as can be seen in the question:

  • How tall are you?

So, unless there is a reason why being short is an important part of what you want to say, the best thing to say is:

  • Chris is as tall as Meg.
  • Stewie isn’t as tall as Brian.

If being short is something you would like to stress, you may say:

  • Napoleon was just as short as Ceasar.
  • Snow White was surprised to see that Bashful wasn’t as short as Grumpy.

However, this is rarely the case. Just keep using as tall as. 🙂
