When to use COOK/MADE ?
I cooked my food. Or I made my food.
You can always use the verb MAKE when you mean preparing food (or drinks) hot or cold.
- make breakfast
- make some coffee
- make a sandwich
- make pasta
You can’t always use the verb cook. It means ‘making food by applying HEAT’, so you can use it with meals:
- cook lunch
- cook dinner
(breakfast you usually make, because it doesn’t involve ‘real’ cooking) - cook pasta
- cook chicken
Cook coffee or tea would sound strange- you should say ‘make coffee/tea’.
Do you like cooking? I do.
*note: you can’t use ’make’ in the above question!
