Difference Between MODERN and RECENT!

Modern and recent are quite different in meaning. They are both adjectives.

BUT:

Modern is something related to the present time, to today’s world, not the past.

Examples: modern architecture, modern design, modern entertainment, etc.

Recent is something that happened, began or something that was done not so long ago (very close to the present time).

Examples: recent revolution, recent events, recent visit, recent disaster, etc.

As you can see, modern and recent are different in meanings. You CANNOT say recent architecture or modern events.

🙂 I hope it’s clear now 🙂
