The key is to memorize sentences and chunks of language instead of words, in my opinion. It will increase your brain’s processing speed when it comes to speaking.
Some experts also suggest visualizing what you want to say instead of creating sentences in your first language. This way, you can eliminate the translation process.
For example, if you’d like to buy an ice-cream, just visualize a picture of an ice-cream instead of the word in your mother tongue. If you have already learnt the chunk ‘I’d like a…’, you’re ready to make a sentence in English without having to think about it: ‘I’d like an ice-cream, please.’
