Burn Up and Burn Down mean to destroy someone or something or to be destroyed by fire or heat.

BUT,
Burn Up can also mean:
to make brighter or stronger flames (about fire)

  • The fire was really burning up!

to make someone angry

  • James burned me up yesterday, so now I am not talking to him.
