Ways to say approximately
We use approximately when we want to express that something is close in value or amount or is almost exact or correct but is not precise.
- The journey will take approximately two hours.
There are many different ways to say approximately…here are some of them:
- We arrived at around 5.00p.m.
- You can expect to spend roughly $40 a day.
- It will cost £30, give or take a few pounds.
- We drank nearly three bottles of wine last night!
- I earned somewhere in the region of $40,000 last year.
- The office measures 8,000 square foot or thereabouts.
- There was a sharp increase in immigration circa 1990.
- The ballpark figure is €100,000.
- I have loosely translated the document but it is not 100% accurate.
- There are about 200 people at the event tonight!
- If you keep driving for another 5km or so, you will arrive at the beach.
- The fare will be €20, more or less.
