OBJECTIVE

When you are objective, you don’t let your feelings and preferences influence your opinion- you only look at the facts.

  • I know you hate Fred, but let’s be objective. He’s one of our best players.
  • I find it hard to be obejctive where my husband is concerned. I love him too much.
  • Political reporters should always stay objective.

SUBJECTIVE

When you are subjective, your opinion is based on your feelings and preferences and you don’t consider the facts.

  • Beauty is so subjective. I find Fred really ugly, but his wife thinks he’s beautiful.
  • You can’t say this band is rubbish. I quite like their songs. It’s subjective.
  • Don’t get upset. It’s just my subjective opinion based on one concert only.
