Central park is huge and there are tons of things to see and do! Let me list some of the featured sites and activities here.

1. Central park zoo:

Central park zoo is located on East Side between 63rd and 66th Streets. There are over 130 kinds of species, including snow leopard to tropical birds. Interactive classes that include animal feeding and zoo exhibits can be accessed here.

The zoo is quite small, so it’s pretty suitable for families (especially with those will small children) to visit. Some may come here because of the famous animated movie Madagascar.

However, if you are here to find Alex the lion, the only thing you will discover is disappointment, since all the main characters are made up!

2. Belvedere Castle:

Belvedere castle is located in Mid-Park at 79th Street. It was designed by the co-creator of the central park, Calvert Vaux, in 1869. Belvedere provides the highest and best views of the Park and the adjacent cityscape.

The castle itself is also a visitor center. You can take an official park tour here. Souvenirs in the gift shop is also available. Tons of travel information about the central park can be found and they even provide a free borrow of kid-friendly Discovery Kit filled with field guides, binoculars and art supplies.

3. Alice in Wonderland:

Located on East Side at 75th Street, the wonderland was introduced in 1959 when the philanthropist George Delacorte commissioned this bronze statue as a gift to the children of New York City. The statue is popular among children who like to climb atop and art lovers who like sculptures.

4. Rock the boat:

Take a romantic paddle around the Lake  or let someone else do the work during a Venetian gondola ride at Loeb Boathouse (available April through November). While you’re there, absorb the picturesque view of the Lake at the Central Park Boathouse Restaurant for fine dishes and wine.

5. Bike riding:

There are a few bike rental locations inside the park. The price of normal bikes starts from 15$ per hour. You can enjoy the scenery as you pedal along comfortably at your own pace.

You can stop along the way to explore the many attractions such as Belvedere Castle, Strawberry Fields, Alice in Wonderland, Bethesda Terrace, the Balto Statue, the Lake, the Conservatory Gardens, the 36 bridges and arches located throughout the park and many others.

With 843 acres in Central Park, there is no shortage of things to do and see with your bike rental.

Horse-Drawn Carriages are a wonderful way to experience the beauty of the Park as well. They can be found all year round lined up along Central Park South between 5th and 6th Avenues.

Despite not very cheap, it is a romantic way to explore this amazing park.

The price starts from 115& per hour and may vary owing to high-season or off-season dates. You can choose to customize your own route. however you need to make a reservation to do that.

If you only want a normal ride around the park, just walk up.
