Where do hummingbirds go in the winter?

The migration patterns of hummingbirds depend on the particular species. Not every species of hummingbird comes from or goes to the same place.

Most hummingbirds go south for the winter, to warm places in Central America such as southern Mexico, Belize, and Panama.

Some that are more hardy can stay along the Gulf Coast, meaning that they sometimes stay in southern Texas and Florida rather than going too far south.

As soon as the weather gets warm again, the hummingbirds return to their other home, sometimes along the American East Coast and sometimes in the southern areas of Canada.
