The reason this question might be confusing is because it uses the subjunctive tense. The subjunctive is used when talking about a state that could happen, or an unreality such as wish, emotion, possibility, judgment, opinion, obligation, or action that have not yet occurred.

A lot of the time it is used to talk about being in someone else’s shoes, as in this case. While in the real world you cannot become someone else, it is easy to put yourself in someone else’s position and give them advice.

In this subjunctive tense, you should use “were” when using the verb “to be”. This applies regardless of the subject that you have. For other verbs, the correct conjugation is no different from the regular present or past tense.

The correct form of this sentence should be: “If you were me, what would you do?” Note that, if you switch the subjects, you could also say, “If I were you, what would I do?”
