Do you capitalise The G in gentlemen when you use “Good Afternoon gentlemen” in an email opening?

Yes, you need to capitalise the G in Gentleman but I wouldn’t capitalise the A in afternoon.

The opening of the email should be “Good afternoon, Gentlemen.”

Hi Blake,

“SFG” can stand for many different things depending on the context.

  • San Francisco Giants (a Major League Baseball team)
  • Spectral frequency guide (a term used in audio processing)
  • Sudden fetal distress (a medical condition during childbirth)
  • Special Forces Group (a military unit)
  • Surface finishing group (a manufacturing term)
