The as/as structure is often used together with an adjective to compare two things or people:

  • Benedict Cumberbatch isn’t as handsome as Brad Pitt.

However, it is also possible to use as/as the following way:

as + adjective + clause (subject +verb)

For example:

  • It isn’t as bad as it looks.
  • Does this cupcake taste as good as it looks?
  • We didn’t get as far as I thought we would.
  • Learning English isn’t as difficult as you think.
