Recruiting a new employee can be time consuming and a long process. Therefore, I would advise you to try to keep the email short and concise, only including the information you feel is necessary. For example, it may be a good idea to include the day and time of the interview, what position you are applying for and whom you spoke with. This will help the interviewer recognise you quickly.

Below is a clear and coherent email, asking for an update on an interview.

Dear Mr/Ms. (enter interviewers name here),

First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to interview for the _______________ position at your company. The interview took place on the (enter date here) at (enter time here) with (enter interviewer’s name here).

I am writing to you to inquire about the status of my application. It has been three weeks since the interview and I would really appreciate an update on the job position. I am very interested in the position as I feel I am a suitable candidate and could really benefit the company.

Once again, I appreciate this opportunity. If there is any additional information you need from me, I will happily provide it.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

(Your name).
