A bellhop is a person who usually works in a hotel or a club and helps customers with their bags, shows them to their rooms and runs errands for the guests.

Take a look at a dialogue between a hotel manager and George. George would like to work as a bellhop in the hotel and is being interviewed by the hotel manager.

  • Can you tell me the main duties of a bellhop?
  • The main duties of a bellhop are to welcome new guests to the hotel, to help them with their luggage, to escort them to their rooms and make sure they have all their luggage. A bellhop should also run errands for guests and deliver room service.
  • Exactly! What would you do if a guest asked you for directions?
  • I would explain to them the best and easiest way to get there and offer them the hotel transport service.
  • What would you do if the transport service was not available.
  • I would offer to order a taxi for the guest and tell the taxi driver their desired location.
  • Thank you George.
  • Thank you.
