MEANING OF ‘DON’T GET ME WRONG’
This is an idiomatic expression (idiom), which is used to say that you don’t want to be misunderstood. People also use this when they are being critical and don’t want to be judged for it. If you state your opinion but don’t want the recipient to misinterpret what you’re saying, take it the wrong way or be offended by your remark, you could say this.
Here are a few examples:-
– Don’t get me wrong Sally, I know why you’re doing this, but I really don’t think you’re making the right decision.
– I think we should spend some time apart. Don’t get me wrong, I still love you very much, but I just need to be alone for a while.
– Don’t get me wrong Mark, I think that is a great outfit, but I just don’t think it’s appropriate for a funeral.
