Most experts agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day! In short, this is because, by the time you wake up in the morning, your body has not eaten for a long time. Even if you only sleep a little bit, chances are that the last meal that you ate was dinner, anywhere from 6-8 pm.
If you wake up the next morning at 6-8 am, that is a full 12 hours between meals! Compare that to the 4-5 hours you typically have between breakfast and lunch, and the 5-8 hours you typically have between lunch and dinner.
Most of the time you will also be drinking water or other beverages and eating small snacks during your waking hours as well. This means that you are eating a lot more frequently during the day.
Breakfast is literally breaking the fast that you have had since your last meal up until the morning. In addition, a good breakfast can give your body enough fuel to power the brain for the rest of the day!
