read, view, express, comprehend, go through, peruse, study, scan, skim, browse

Of course!
Doing anything to do with English is a way of improving. The best way to learn any language is to immerse yourself in the culture and make it relevant to you.

Reading can be difficult and it practices different skills away from speaking but it can mainly help to improve your vocabulary. A good way of doing things is to use a notebook and write down the main new words you come across. That way you can look them up in a dictionary or online and learn them for our own use.

It might even be a good idea to start with children’s books and then advance as you get better. It will be difficult if you choose to pick up a novel and try to read it as you will have to be stopping to write things down every couple of minutes. Remember, it’s practice so take your time and enjoy the learning process!
