When talking about one man or woman, use the word ‘person’:

  • You are the only person I can trust.

When saying ‘some person’, we emphasise the fact that we are talking about an unknown person. It can be any type of person: young, old, male, female of any profession:

  • I’m getting emails from some person called Sam.
  • You shouldn’t go out with some random person you’ve just met on the Internet.
