The difference between BLAME and ACCUSE
BLAME – to say or think that a person is responsible for something wrong; hold someone responsible for an accident, bad situation or a problem.
ACCUSE – to say that a person did something wrong or illegal; to charge with offense, fault or crime.
BLAME someone for something
ACCUSE someone of something
Examples:
I blamed him for crashing my car. – I thought that he crashed my car (I may or may not have said that).
I accused him of crashing my car. – I said that he crashed my car.
The main difference is that you use ACCUSE when you actually say it, but you use BLAME when you think that the person is responsible for doing something wrong (you do not necessarily say it out loud).
He blamed her for his mother’s death.
He accused her of murder.
It’s really helpful for learners. Thank you!
