Charges, dues, fees, and duties have similar meanings. However, in different types of setting, they mean completely different things. All of them are connected to money, or types of obligations.
Charges
is the plural noun form of the verb to charge. In that case charges means the price of something, or simply the money you have to spend to buy something.
Charges, in a legal sense, means the reasons for which someone is being sued at court.
Charges can also mean extra money that is asked for various services, or on top of some prices in stores.
Dues
are things, or money, that you owe to someone.
Dues can also mean a level of personal investment you have to give in order to achieve something. When you have dues towards someone you can pay them either in money, or labor.
If you have to pay your dues in a certain job or occupation it means that you still have to learn and work until you can be considered a professional.
Fees
are simply extra money requirements, or basic money requirements for a certain service or goods. Subscriptions, professional services, and stores all across the world have fees that apply to various things they provide.
Duties
are the obligations you have in life. They can be duties towards your family, friends, country, job, or anything that you are invested in. Duties need to be fulfilled, upheld, and they need to be completed. When you have duties you are bound to them.
