👉 Saying Thank You for Your Patience

When we thank someone for their patience what are we actually thanking them for? The Cambridge English Dictionary defines patience as:

The ability to accept delay, suffering, or annoyance without complaining or becoming angry.

In this modern world, where customer service forms a core part of any business, the phrase thank you for your patience is used in abundance.

It is a common, polite expression which is used to acknowledge that the other person, usually the client or customer, has been waiting for longer than expected.

This expression is often used in formal situations to diffuse a potentially difficult situation and help maintain a positive relationship.

Thank you for your patience examples:

A.Customer: I have been placed on hold for the last 20 minutes!

Writing a Follow-Up E-mail After an Interview

If you are reading this post, then you are already taking the incentive for a job, career, or position you are interested in. Interviews are a necessary part of life, whether they are for a position as a student, volunteer, intern, or employee.

Today, to send a follow-up e-mail after an interview is proper etiquette, and in many ways expected.

Sending that e-mail does at least three things:

1. It shows your interest and care in the position you are pursuing.

2. It gives you the opportunity to let the interviewer know any important information that you forgot to note during the interview (it happens to us all).

3. It separates you from the other interviewees, so you do not get lost in the crowd.

There are two main types of follow-up e-mails:

1. The thank you e-mail within 24 hours of the interview

2. The status check e-mail to get an update on where your stand with the position.

At the end of the interview, it’s smart to ask the interviewer what you can expect from the hiring process, and if they have a timeline as to when they will have the position filled. Then you will know when that day arrives, you can send a status check e-mail.

Also, remember to always check your grammar and spelling before sending any e-mail to potential employers.

Thank You after Interview Email Sample

Include a simple subject line on the e-mail that states your name first, and intentions.

Subject Line: Gabriel Espinoza – Thank you

Hello [Interviewer’s Name],

I would like to thank you again for taking the time to meet with me. I am highly interested in the position, and impressed by [The Company’s] core values and philosophies you related.

My experience in [software, education, hospitality, medicine, etc.], and my skills of [bilingualism, communication, collaboration, etc.] will be an advantageous match in working with a dynamic team, such as yours, toward [The Company’s Goals].

Please keep me informed on the status of this position, and of any other information you may need of me. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Take care,

[Your Name]

Of course, this is only an example idea; you may add or delete whatever information you find necessary. It should be your own voice, but it should be confident.

Try to stay away from phrases like, “I believe I would do well in this position because…,” or “I feel I am a good fit because…” Starting a statement with “I feel” or “I believe,” sometimes show that you are unsure; you only “believe.”

There is more conviction and confidence in beginning your statement with “My past experience will benefit your team because…” or “My skills are an advantageous match because…”

Also, remember to use this thank you e-mail to re-emphasize a skill you have, or bring up an important point you forgot to make during the interview.

Follow up Email after Interview Sample

During your interview, if you asked for the deadline the employers intended to hire, then when that day comes, you can wait two or three more days, then send your status check e-mail.

Again, it only shows that you care for the position and want to pursue it. So, do not shy away or feel as though you are coming across as too pushy.

Subject Line: Gabriel Espinoza- [Name of Position] position

Hello [Interviewer’s Name],

I hope all is well with you. When we last spoke, you had mentioned these would be the final days of the hiring process timeline. I am writing for a status update of the [Name of Position] position. Please let me know if any additional information from me is needed throughout this process regarding the position.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you and take care,

[Your Name]

Both e-mails should be short and simple. Also, as a word of advice, if possible, keep both e-mails on the same e-mail thread, so when the interviewer reads the Status Check letter they quickly reference your Thank You letter.

Remember to write what feels comfortable to you, but be confident, polite, professional, keep your message short, and check your grammar before sending it. Regardless of what you write though, any follow-up e-mail is better than silence, so you are already on a positive and productive path.

👉 Thank You Letter to a Sponsor

When writing a letter remember:

  • to write your name, your address and the date the letter was written on the right hand side of the page.
  • to write the name and address of the recipient of the letter underneath your contact details but on the left hand side of the page.

Below is a sample thank you letter to a sponsor, you can add more information to this letter if you wish.

Dear Mr/Mrs (name of the sponsor),

On behalf of (name of your company or organisation) I would like to thank you for kindly sponsoring our organisation.

We truly appreciate your continuous support and your very generous donation, your contribution will dramatically help us develop and succeed in future endeavours.

Without your involvement and generosity, we would not be able to aim high and reach our potential. Thank you again for your generous and continuous support.

(Your name).

This is a very generic thank you letter as I don’t know the type of organisation you are working for or what the sponsor has done for your organisation.

I think you should make this letter more personal by thanking them and highlighting how important their contribution is to the organisation.

For example:

  • If you are a coach of a football team and you need sponsors to help send your players to a football camp, you could write; thank you for your generous donation because of your support we can now send the players to the football camp. This is really going to benefit them as players but also as individuals.
  • If you are a charity organization and are raising money to provide shelter for the homeless, you could write; we appreciate your contribution to our organization. With your help we were able to provide shelter for 200 homeless people.

By adding in these personal aspects to the thank you letter, your sponsor will feel appreciated and will also feel content that their sponsorship and contribution to your organisation will not be in vain.

👉 Thank you Letter for Job Offer

As a child, my parents placed great importance on thank you letters. I had to write one to my grandparents after every Birthday and Christmas present that I received.

I always saw it as a tiresome chore but now, as an adult, I understand the importance of thanking someone for their generosity and what greater gift is there, than a new job?

So, you may wish to thank your employer for this new opportunity and start your relationship off on the right foot. A thank you letter doesn’t need to be too long.

Simply express your gratitude and demonstrate how thankful you are for the new job opportunity. You might want to briefly explain why you’re particularly excited to work for the company and it is also important to include any information that could avoid confusion and might be helpful moving forward.

So, simply put, you need to address three key areas:

  1. Saying thank you
  2. Expressing enthusiasm
  3. Confirming details

Here are some ideas for you to create the right tone in your thank you letter.

  1. Saying thank you for job offer
  • It is with great honour and appreciation that I thank you for the offer of a position in your company.
  • I would like to formally thank you for offering me the opportunity to join your company.
  • Thank you very much for this incredible opportunity.

2. Expressing enthusiasm

  • I am delighted to inform you that I accept the offer with great enthusiasm.
  • I am very excited to begin working, learning more about the company and finding ways to contribute my skills to the team.
  • I am extremely passionate about the company’s mission/vision.

3. Confirming details

  • As per our discussion, I would like to confirm my starting salary of $ …………, and my annual entitlement of 21 days paid holiday.
  • I look forward to starting employment with your company on August 1st at 9am.
  • I will be sure to send you all the documents you requested by the end of the week.

I will leave you with this final piece of advice.

In your thank you letter, do not apologise or mention any negative aspects of what happened in the interview. For example, if you would like to apologize for calling someone by the wrong name, don’t!

Or if you want to express your pleasure and surprise that you got the job without the skill set or experience the interviewer mentioned you needed, don’t! Check your letter for mistakes!

After all your hard work to strike the right chord with your new employer and create that fantastic first impression, don’t blow it with spelling mistakes or typos. Check and double check your letter.

It’s really a great advice, Thank you for sharing it. A follow up is a must after an interview, it’s the only way for a person to make the recruiters feel he is still interested with the job. And your suggestions on how to do a follow up, what all things to avoid are really helpful.
