Following on from diets we have fads. You may have seen this word before in a different context and it means the same thing here.

For those that don’t know, a fad is something that is really popular for a short period of time. It could be hailed as a new way or a breakthrough. People love new things!

Lots of diets are fads, they try to do something slightly differently to get people excited about what new rewards they could find by following the new fad.

The difficult thing with going on a diet is sticking to them for a long time and making it more than a fad. A lot of people aren’t committed enough to do this or for another reason they stop the diet after a very short space of time.

If you are going to make a change to your diet, then make sure it is healthy and then make sure you stick to it! Don’t be the victim of a fad!

Tony: Hey Vera, how is the new diet going?

Vera: Yeah, it’s great thank you! I’ve lost weight and I feel amazing!

Tony: Wow, how long has it been now?

Vera: I’ve been on this diet for six months.

Tony: Amazing! Definitely more than a fad then!

Vera: Oh yeah, I’ve changed my whole lifestyle.
